Then, we got to the part where we test out interactions during prototyping. ![]() Figma was a breeze to collaborate on information architecture and page designs. This was a giant conceptual prototype that included a custom CRM among other enterprise products. My team and I recently collaborated on a project using Figma. Understanding when to employ each is an important decision that can save you time, headaches, and deliver the results needed for the intended outcome. The prototype was designed in Axure RP 8.Īs an Experience Designer for Slalom Consulting, we regularly use Sketch, InVision, Axure RP, and Figma based on the project and client need. In retrospect, it’s no surprise that he thought the demo was in a live test environment considering how responsive the experience was with inputs, logic, dynamic states, non-linear navigation - it seemed like the real thing. He asked, surprisingly, “wait, this isn’t live?” ![]() About halfway through the experience, he paused when my boss mentioned in passing that he was witnessing a prototype. In a previous role I demonstrated a completely overhauled checkout experience for the CEO. However, if you are tasked with creating a complex, non-linear experience with logic or need to create a near-production prototype without code, Axure RP beats Figma all day*. If you have a project that needs mockups or a prototype with simple navigation without multiple states, Figma is arguably the best tool for the job. For starters, its collaboration and intuitive UX is a seamless (and fun) experience. There are many things that Figma does undeniably well. You can also choose what happens when you interact with widgets storing page references.F igma is all the rage in UX design these days with good reason. On the Interactions tab, you can choose what happens when widget and page events are fired. If you uncheck both Include widget notes in sidebar and Include page notes, the Documentation pane will not appear in the prototype player because it will have no content to display. Show notes names: The names of the page notes fields will be visible in the Documentation pane of the prototype player. Include page notes: Page notes will be included at the top of the Documentation pane of the prototype player. You can click a note to scroll to and highlight its assigned widget. Include widget notes in sidebar: All widget notes will be included in the Documentation pane of the prototype player, ordered by their footnote number. ![]() You can click the icon to see the widget's notes. Include widget note markers: Widgets with notes will display a numbered footnote icon. On the Notes tab, you can choose how your widget and page notes are represented in the HTML output. Unchecking a parent page will automatically uncheck its children as well. If you have your pages organized into parent-child relationships, you must include a parent page in order to include any of its children. You can choose on a page-by-page basis or check Generate all Pages to include them all. On the Pages tab, you can choose which of the pages in the file to include in the HTML output. Publish → More Generators and Configurations. You can access these settings from any of the HTML publishing dialogs: You can customize the HTML output of your prototypes in a number of ways with the options in the HTML generator.
